Power Interruption: Minister Resigns

Sierra Leone Minister of Energy, Alhadji Kanja Sesay, has resigned from office, AFP reports.

A statement by the President's Office on Friday said the minister resigned following recent spate of power interruption in the country’s electricity supply.

The statement explained that the ministry is now under the direct supervision of President Julius Maada Bio, assisted by two officials.

The resignation of the minister came on the heels of the $18.5m paid by the Sierra Leon government to two power providers, Turkish Karpowership and Transco-CLSG group.
