Port Harcourt Refinery Resumes Operation

As promised by the federal government, the Port Harcourt Refinery, resumed operations on Wednesday, December 11.

Confirmation of the resumption of the refinery, shut down for rehabilitation several months back, was made by the Special Assistant, SA, to the Minister of State for Petroleum, Amaka Okafor, who revealed that the minister, Heineken Lokpobiri, would be visiting the facility later yesterday (Wednesday). 

The rehabilitation process, launched about three years ago by the immediate past President, Muhammadu Buhari, cost $1.5b It is expected to restore the facility to its 210,000 barrel per day, bpd, capacity.
