Reuters reports say missiles and drones launched Wednesday by Lebanon's Hezbollah, have hit military targets in northern Israel. Quoting Israeli military sources, the reports added that the attack, apparently in retaliation for Israeli strikes that killed Hezbollah members, wounded 14 Israeli soldiers said to be in serious condition.

The missiles and drones, said to have been launched towards at the Bedouin village of Arab al-Aramshe, struck the soldiers who were in a community centre in the village.

Israeli military struck Hezbollah targets in southern Lebanon on Tuesday, killing one of its field commanders, following months of exchange of gun fire prior to the commencement of the six-month old Israeli-Palestinian face off in Gaza.

On Wednesday, Israeli Air Force fighter jets struck Hezbollah targets north of Baalbek, eastern Lebanon, which has since fuelled the risk of escalation of clashes, culminating in Iran's retaliatory attack on Israel on Saturday night.

Israeli officials have vowed retaliation.
