FAW's J6P Raises The Nigerian Trucking Sector Bar

On Wednesday, November 8, 2023, China's First Automobile Works, FAW, unveiled its high end trucks, including the unmatched, all-terrain versatile, single brand heavy and medium duty J6P truck, into the Nigerian market.

The event, which took place in Abuja, was in part fulfillment of the company's 2018 strategic vision plan of becoming a reference point in world-class mobility service.

In more ways than one, the launch by the Changchun, China-based automobile company, established in 1958, raised the bar in Nigeria's trucking sector. 

With a combination of its rugged and high-end utility assemblage and comfort, FAW's J6P Truck is more of a home-bred masterpiece for tropical efficiency. Apparently bearing Nigeria's very challenging and sometime inhospital roads in mind, the manufacturers left nothing to chance in terms of its tailor-made design.

For instance, the single brand heavy and medium duty truck, dubbed as one of China's most popular high-end trucks, combines an all terrain versatility with a durability level that is second to no other truck of its range. That is thanks to its combination of multiple-leaf springs with shock absorbers, dual break circuit with full air brake system, drum brakes and a manual valve control spring that accumulates energy and allows a fuel efficiency ability that save 2-3 litres of fuel in every 100km.

In the main, a combination of these features explain why the J6P truck has an enviable global acceptance record over which it has notched up a respectable worldwide sale of well over 7 million units. 

Below is a peep into why FAW's J6P truck is not only going to be a marvel for Nigeria's trucking sector but also on the must-have list. 

Reliable Performance

The J6P suspension is constructed with 4U balance suspension and double I-pole V-shaped layout. This is ensure a stronger anti-rolling capacity, longer service life of ball joint, easier removal, installation and low maintenance cost. In addition, its frame belly connection design makes way for a more reliable structure. 

Good Passability

The cab is raised, increasing the clearance between the water tank and the ground to provide better passability. The metal guard plate is added to prevent the chassis from scraping and damaging the water tank.

Super Carrying Capacity

The J6P capacity is tailored around the unique 300x80x (8+8+5), three-layer through frame which is made of high-strength special steel. Its main strength is that it has strong carrying or luggage capacity.

Safety Protection

For safety, the J6P is equipped with standard FAWDE FCB (FAWDE CHAIN BRAKE) solid-chain brake system. It is coupled with good retarding performance to effectively shorten braking time and distance. Also constructed to the FAW standard is the instrument panel, lowered to provide wider view.

Comfortable Driving and Riding

The J6P made comfort an integral part of its feature for exciting driving experience. In addition to its large space, double-layer sealing cab, it comes with an insulation pad that helps to reduce radiation and noise. There is also the air shock absorption seats, four-point air suspension, optional independent heater, seat heating, ventilation, independent cold air. 

The CA6DM2 Engine

The J6P Truck comes with a perfect engine specially designed for heavy duty commercial vehicles. However, its CA6DM2 engine is mainly equipped on engineering and road tractors, road rigid trucks, heavy duty dump trucks and special purposes with a displacement of 11L, power range of 390-460PS and torque range of 1,550-2,100Nm. Overall, the engine is a “golden displacement” product for the heavy duty truck industry. Its nature can only be expressed in the saying that the taste of the pudding is in the eating. 

J6P's in-road into the Nigerian Trucking sector also comes with more enticing offers. Besides being the only truck outfit with a mouth-watering two year warranty, its manufacturers added a number of well-stock spare part reservoirs, manned by highly trained and competent technical staff, to ensure quality service maintenance, uninterrupted parts availability and supply. Yet, arrangements are in top gears to ensure that in addition to its assembly plant in Lagos, FAW's next phase is to set up a complete manufacturing plant in Abuja, which it hopes to turn into one of its brand export hubs
