Nollywood Loses Another Veteran Actor, Zulu Adigwe H

Barely two week after the Nigerian film industry, Nollywood lost three of its promising stars, tragedy struck again with the announcement of the death of prominent veteran actor, Zulu Adigwe.

He was said to have died on Tuesday with nothing said of the course of death.

Reports of Adigwe's passing is contained in an Instagram post made by one of his colleagues, Movie producer, Stanley Nwoko.

“I regret to announce the passing of a veteran actor, late Mr Zulu Adigwe. “What caused his death is yet to be reviewed. Rest in peace good actor,” he wrote in the post.

Adigwe, one of the brightest theatre artistes in Nigeria, was the character that replaced Albert Egbe in Ken Saro Wiwa's sitcom, Bassey and Company. A first class graduate from the University of Ibadan, he has put in more than two decades of brilliant performances both on stage and tube.

The widely read and traveled actor began his acting career in Europe but brought his skills to Nollywood in 1999 when he featured in the Blood of the Orphan. Before then, he was on the cast of Ken Saro Wiwa's sitcom Bassey and Company since 1986.

Notably, he was also a key feature of the then popular Checkmate.

Among other films, Adigwe also featured in “Living in Bondage” and “Breaking Free”.

His death has brought to six the number of Nollywood Actors who passed on since the beginning of the year. The list includes comic character John Okafor, better known as Mr Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor and Andy Best. Others are Sisi Quadri, Jumoke Aderounmu and most recently, Junior Pope.

He left behind his wife, Blessing and three children.
