*Set to deepen global South bilateral relations

Nigeria has entered into a bilateral agreement with the Republic of Cuba to further enhance collaborations in innovation, science and technology between both countries. 

This was disclosed in a statement released on Saturday, by the Director, Information Office of the Vice President, Olusola Abiola, on the sideline of the ongoing G77+China Summit in Havana, Cuba, 

Nigeria’s delegation is led by Vice President Kashim Shettima. Also in the delegation is the Minister of Innovation, Science and Technology, Uche G. Nnaji, who also signed on behalf of the country. 

The statement, which praised President Bola Ahmed Tinubu for his visionary leadership which culminated in the MoU, noted that Nigeria would maximise opportunities provided by the bilateral agreement by commencing its implementation processes without delay. 

While reacting to the agreement, Vice President Shettima pointed out that Nigeria places high premium on South-South cooperation, being a platform for promoting global South's sustainable development.

The agreement focuses attention on biotechnology, scientific Investigation and Innovation, technological development, human resources development, specialist Exchange in the area of Science and Technology and technologies transfer for development areas.
