Arrest Adamawa REC, INEC asks IGP
INEC has asked police Inspector-General to arrest Adamawa REC.
The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has forwarded a letter to the Inspector-General of the Nigerian Police, IGP Usman Baba Alkali, pleading that the embattled Adamawa state Resident Electoral Commissioner, REC, Barr Hudu Yunusa-Ari, be arrested, investigated and prosecuted over his conduct at the yet to be concluded governorship election rerun in the state.
The election umpire also transmitted another letter to the Secretary to the Government of the Federation SGF, Mr Boss Mustapha, seeking to acquaint President Muhammadu Buhari with what it termed the “unwholesome” activities of the REC, while also demanding a possible review of his appointment.
The decisions are part of the Commission’s meeting which took place in Abuja on Tuesday.
