Unizik Female Student Killed In Alleged Cult Clash
*Targeted tricycle operator also shot but escaped death.
A 100-level student of the Nnamdi Azikiwe University, Awka, Anambra state, was, Thursday evening, killed in a cult-related gun clash.
In the incident which took place along the busy Miracle Junction, Ifite axis, the student, simply identified as Uche, was killed by a stray bullet fired by a gunman suspected to belong to a Cult group.
According to witnesses, Uche, a Medical Lab student of the university, was killed when the alleged cultists, in hot pursuit of a yet-to-be-identified tricycle operator, fired sporadic shots which missed their said target.
However, one of the bullets reportedly hit the student, said to be walking along the roadside at the time of he incident.
“This deceased was a 100-level student of the Faculty of Health Science. She was killed on Thursday evening by a stray bullet shot by suspected cultists who were chasing a tricycle operator at the popular Miracle Junction.
“The tricycle driver was shot too, and he pretended to be dead, but surprisingly, he stood up after a while and escaped when his attackers had left thinking he was dead.”
The body of the deceased has since been deposited at the morgue of the Chukwuemeka Odumegwu Ojukwu University Teaching Hospital, Amaku-Awka.
The state police was yet to respond to enquiries by FreshNews multi-media as at the time of filing in this report.
