APC Accuses Opposition of Instigating Protests in States

Opposition Parties Instigating Mass Protests-APC

The ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, has said that the country’s opposition parties are instigating young Nigerians to embark on mass protests in a bid to portray the Bola Ahmed Tinubu administration as under-performing.

Citing the protests in Minna and Kano as examples, the party in a statement released by its national Publicity Secretary, Felix Morka, on Monday, noted that the simultaneous protests did not happen by chance.

“The protests in Minna and Kano earlier today were the manifestation of this devious and unpatriotic plot. That the protest happened simultaneously in both cities is not coincidental. It bears a bold stamp of an orchestrated and coordinated effort to instigate unrest undermine the government,” Morka said in the statement.

Describing the perpetrators as mercenary opposition, he pointed out that there is a clear and present danger to public peace and national security.

According to him, even though the right of citizens to peaceful protest, there is need for everyone not to engage in treacherous acts designed to promote social unrest particularly with incendiary rhetoric with manipulative tendencies.

“This mercenary opposition tactic is a clear and present threat to public peace and national security. While we recognize the right of citizens to engage in peaceful protest, we urge our good people to be vigilant and not lend themselves to the treacherous attempt by the opposition to promote social strife by its incendiary rhetoric and manipulative plots.”

He assured that Preisdent Bola Ahmed Tinubu is committed to the implementation of policies aimed at mitigating the pains of the people by going ahead with ongoing reforms required to energise economic recovery processes that will engender sustainable prosperity for all Nigerians.

He therefore urged all Nigerians to stand firm with the administration in what he referred to as “…this noble stride”.

“We implore Nigerians to shun the guile and unpatriotic attempt by opposition elements to destabilize the country for their own base and parochial political gains,”the statement read in part.
