Commissioner of Police, Federal Capital Territory, FCT, CP Beneth Igweh, has assured residents and other law abiding citizens that the officers and men of the commanded are emboldened, more than ever, to deal with all criminals operating in and around the nation's political capital.

He gave the assurance Friday while parading apprehended criminals as part of the Command's review of its activities in preceding few days.

The FCT Police boss, who reiterated the Command's unalloyed commitment to ridding the FCT of criminals of whatever guise, noted that the determination of the his officers and men is such that all criminal still operating in the city are only bidding time before being caged. He assured that all criminals still on the loose are bound to be apprehended to face the long arm of the law, one way or the other, sooner than later.

"I want to still warn that those who think that the FCT is just open like that, no. I want to reiterate that we are still eager, we are still willing and we are more emboldened to deal with criminals more than you think without fear or favour.

"I still want to say that our four-point movement agenda is still on. I said it from the beginning. It's either you shoot; I shoot you, either you go or I go. The next place to be, if you are not in the grave or mortuary, the next place to be is the prison yard. If you are not in the prison yard, you will be in my cell; if you are not in the cell, you must be on the run. If you are not on the run, you will come out. Let us know who is who. We are ready for you without fear or favour. Without mincing words, we're ready for you," he assured.

The CP used the occasion to parade notorious criminals apprehended in and around the FCT within the last few days. One of them, Jonathan Marcus, a Maiduguri indigene said to be responsible for the heinous slaughter of an 80 year-old man, Adebola Ezekiel, and his 79 year-old wife, Abiodun Ezekiel.

The suspect, a mechanic who doubled as the man's driver, slit the duo's throat in their Apo legislative quarters on 1 April 2024.

Marcus, who confessed to the crime, was arrested in Obajana, Kogi state and will be appearing in court soon.

"Following the report of the gruesome murder of an elderly couple by name; Adebola Ezekiel, 80 years and his wife Abiodun Ezekiel, 79 years in their residence in Apo legislative quarters, on 1st April, 2024, at about 11:00 PM, the operatives of the command in response commenced an immediate discreet investigation.

"The investigation led to the arrest of one Jonathan Marcus, a former driver to the deceased couple. He was trailed to and arrested in his hideout in Obajana, Kogi state, after committing the grievous crime. The suspect freely confessed to have gained access to the house on the same date, slit the deceased throat and made away with the phones and ATM cards of the couples. Suspect will be charged to court soon."

Among other apprehended crime suspects, the command also paraded two individuals, Sadiya Abubakar and Mohammed Jibrin, both of whom were found with the corpse of one Bilikisu Mohammed while on their way to bury her.

According to the CP, the deceased visited her boy friend, Abbas Ramalan, who had to travel out of town but fell ill shortly after compelling his boy friend to leave her in the care of Sadiya.

However, Sadiya administered certain non-prescribed drugs with the help of one Muhammed Jibrin, which later resulted in her eventual death.

Overall, the command also paraded eight other Armed Robbery suspects, namely, 38 year-old Chukwuemeka oputa, A.K.A Pounds & dollars; 28 year-old Rafael Dav; 38 year-old Thomas Akange; 41 year-old Adekunle Desmond and 38 year-old Ogundipe Ayotunde. Others are Alexander Kingsley, aka, Tampolo 29; Moses Hassan, aka Parasite, 28, and Apollo Danjuma, 54.

Four locally fabricated AK 47 rifles, three locally fabricated cartridge rifles, one English pistol, one Dane gun, three live rounds of 7.62mm ammunition, one live round of 5.56mm ammunition and an empty cartridge were recovered from them.

The Command also paraded three more suspects described as very notorious Armed Robbers, who were apprehended during routine crime prevention patrol around the Durumi IDP Camp on Tuesday, 9 April, 2024. Items recovered from the suspects whose were given as Ali Isuwa, Mathew Yohanna and Ahmed Mohammed, include one English made pistol and a madza car with registration Number RBC 117 EV.
