Anambra Police on Trail of Kidnappers, Recover AK-47, Two magazines with 50 Rounds of 6.72mm ammunition

Following the smashing of a notorious Kidnap Gang at Awgbu, Orumba North council area, Friday night, March 8, 2024, operatives of the Anambra Police Command have recovered one AK-47 rifle with two magazines loaded with 50 rounds of of 7.62mm ammunitions. 

The development, according to a statement released by the command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, resulted from the intensified manhunt mounted by the command for the kidnappers who escaped from the shootout scene.

The statement explained further that the police operatives, working alongside local vigilante, recovered the items while combing the sorrounding bushes on Saturday morning. 

The Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, praised the diligence of the team, with a promise to reward members of the team for their commitment to public safety.

The Command's Special Anti Kidnapping Unit, Awkuzu, has taken over the case for proper investigation as directed by the Commissioner of Police. Commander of the unit, assured that it will leave no stone unturned until the kidnap suspects are brought to justice.

Meanwhile, the four male victims rescued from the kidnappers last Friday have all been re-united with their joyous families
