UFC Pundits Differ over Adesanya-Pereira
UFC Pundits are divided over who, between Middleweight champion, Alex Pereira and former champion, Israel Adesanya, will win UFC 287
In anticipation of the UFC 287 headliner bout between reign Middleweight champion, Alex Pereira and former champion, Israel Adesanya, pundits are not having a common ground on who will emerge victorious in Miami, United States, Saturday night, April 8.
Alexander Volkanovski, an Australian Mixed Martial artist, who fought in the Featherweight division, is certain, Israel Adesanya, will settle his old score with Pereira in a big way.
Volkanovski, a team mate of Adesanya, who spoke with SkySports Newzealand, is of the opinion that the fight may even end in the third round in javour of Adesanya.
“I think it finishes early,” Volkanovski told Sky Sports New Zealand.
"I think Izzy actually finishes him. I’m thinking third round.
"I don’t know why I’m saying third round, but that’s been my pick, my round. I honestly think he’s gonna finish, so I’m looking forward to that. Obviously, he’s got something to prove. With the right game plan and things like that, I think it’s gonna go well for him, very well for him, and hopefully a nice highlight reel for Izzy. He’s got many of those and one more for the highlight reel.”
But Jonathan Dwight Jones, better known as Jon Jones, thinks otherwise.
Jones, an American professional Mixed Martial artist, believes Pereira's previous three successive victories over Adesanya will come to play as a decider on Saturday night.
“I believe Pereira is going to win again.
“There’s some athletes that just have other athletes’ number. I see he works hard and I’m rooting for him. I believe he’s going to do it again.”
Heading to UFC 285, Adesanya, 33, with a 23-2 MMA, 12-2 UFC record is hoping to upstage his conqueror, 35 year-old Pereira, whose record looks solid at MMA 7-1, 4-0 UFC.
However, combined with the champion's technical ability, his 194cm height advantage and a reach of 203cm could also come to play in swinging the tide compared to Adesanya's 193cm and 203cm194cm respectively.
However it goes, Saturday night promises to be an interesting make-or-mar fight night for Adesanya in particular.
