Oladipo, who held a meeting with the union leaders, in Akure, said that they should “stick to their agenda,”  which is a peaceful protest, and not allow it to degenerate into a breakdown of law and order under the pretence of hijack by fifth columnist.

The police chief has invited the labour leaders to a meeting ahead of the planned protest slated for February 27th and 28th, 2024, in the state.

A statement by the spokesperson for the command, Funmi Odunlami, said that the “meeting centered basically on how the protest will be conducted without infringing on the rights of law-abiding residents and shun activities that may lead to breakdown of law and order.

Oladipo, warned the labor leaders of the command’s preparedness to deal decisively with individuals who may want to cause breakdown of law and order.

He has therefore ordered the immediate deployment of officers and men to strategic areas within the state to ward off miscreants who may want to hijack the protest.

The state Chairman of the union,  Comrade Victor Amoko, said arrangements have been made to ensure the protest is peaceful.

Amoko added that a letter has been written to the State Government to help with security during the protest.
