Innoson Speaks On Alleged Falsified UTME Result

Owner of Innoson Motors, who gifted Miss Joy Ejikeme Mmesoma a N3m scholarship for allegedly coming first in the 2023 Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME, has reacted to allegations by the Joint Admission and Matriculations Board, JAMB, that the candidate falsified her result.

The reaction is contained in a twitter message posted by the company’s image maker, Cornelius Osigwe.

According to Osgwe, Miss Mmesoma does not look like anyone with the capacity to falsify her result as claimed by JAMB.

Osigwe, who admonished JAMB and her other traducers to leave the poor alone, noted that Miss Mmesoma is a poor girl who managed to deploy her intelligence to overcome the burden of her poor background to become one of the most brilliant students in her school, as attested to both by her mates and the principal of her school.

He added that she is from a home where her parents could not even afford the fee for her West African School certifcate Examination, WAEC, and the National Examination Council, NECO, examinations.

"That girl was one of the most brilliant in her school, according to the Principal, her parents couldn't even afford to pay for her WAEC and NECO Exams. Of what advantage will it offer her to manipulate her JAMB score?

“Let the poor breathe pls.

Osigwe, who insisted that the girl in question does not seem to have the mental capacity to falsify her result as claimed, urged JAMB to conduct a through investigation before concluding that sh did so.

"The girl I met doesn't have the brain and capacity to manipulate her result. There is more to this story. A proper investigation needs to be done. Abeg let the poor breath," he twitted.

Indeed, most of those who responded to Osigwe’s position agreed that indeed, there is the need for further investigation.

Meanwhile, Miss Mmesoma's parents have also called on JAMB and relevant security agencies, including the Department of State Services, DSS, to conduct proper investigation on the alleged falsification.

Romanus Ejikeme, father of the 16 year-old Mmesome, is certain that his daughter's life should not be destroyed by claims that are yet to be fully investigated. He therefore called on the DSS to release the result of its findings on the matter.

"My daughter started taking first position in her class right from nursery school and continued even in her secondary school at Girls Secondary School, Oba, Anambra state.

"Now at Anglican Girls Secondary School, Nnewi, she is still tops in her class in the Senior class.

" Her ordeal started when in the released result by JAMB this year, she scored 362 and emerged the overall best. She did not even know but was informed by those who saw it.

" She was even confused because she did not know the outcome of the score before people  started congratulating her. Calls started coming from everywhere. Then she went to check her result and saw her score that she was the overall best.

" There was celebration everywhere that my daughter has made it. But this was the fate she later found herself. They sent DSS after her, using the outcome of the result to intimidate her and the entire family," the distraught father narrated.

Romanus, who also debunked claims by the state commissioner for of education, Prof Ngozi Chuma-Udeh, that Mmesoma came late for her invitation, noted that his daughter, alongside officials of her school, went for the invitation on the same day they received the summon.

"She went with her school officials to the ministry of education, Awka, on time on the same date on invitation. We find out that Miss Nkechinyere Umeh, who scored 360, was honoured and not her that scored 362. She did not delay. We were at Awka on time.

"At the commissioner's office, we saw that DSS was already invited to investigate the matter," he said.

Mmesoma's principal, Mrs Egun Uche Chukwu, also wants relevant security agencies to investigate the case. Like her father, she urged the DSS to do the needful.

"Let the DSS do their investigation and tell us. The commissioner for education should help to follow up the investigation. We were in her office and the issue of DSS came up.

"I won't allow her to suffer because she is a good girl. They promised to investigate the case, let them do their investigation. We made a statement, giving them necessary information," she said.

In a similar development, the Anambra state government has set up a panel to investigate the controversy surrounding the falsification allegation. Education commissioner, Prof Chuma-Udeh, made the announcement in a statement in Awka on Monday. According to her,

"A panel of enquiry has been set up to work with security agencies to investigate the allegation of falsification of result levelled against Mmesoma Ejikeme, who had been showcased in the social media as having scored the highest,"

Below are a few of some of the reactions to JAMB's allegation as contained in Osigwe's Twitter page.

@Felixity19 reacted: “Yes a proper investigation should be done to ascertain what happened. A 3rd party is involved in this score upgrade. Years back while after writing Jamb, those scammers will start advertising score upgrade in different aspirants Facebook groups. These scammers are always there.”

@The_Akachukwu reacted: “I have a personal experience with this, I received two text messages telling me my results, the first gave me 285, my teachers and friends saw it, we were all celebrating, then another came and what I saw shocked my being. The joy left me.”

@sapalona_ commented: “She doesn't have to do it herself na. They expelled 125 people in 2019 or thereabout for inflating post utme scores in Unilag. You people should rest. I'm sure more people did it all over the country. Hers is just talked about because she was said to be the highest.”

@Crytolord said: “I don't believe she manipulated any result.” @Air_meccal reacted: “Is JAMB saying their portal has been compromised?”

@d light2 reacted: “Immediately gbos began tribalising the girls results on social media, I knew something like this will happen. The same way they tribalising Hilda, and agbado went to sponsor one damilola or wetin be her name to start cooking too. DRAMA JUST STARTED…
