False UTME Scores: JAMB Set To Withdraw Affected Candidates' Original Results

The Joint Admission and Matriculation Board, JAMB, has said that it is now set to withdraw the original results of all candidates that falsified their scores in the Unified Tertiary Matriculation Examination, UTME.

The development is contained in a statement issued by JAMB’s head of PAP, Fabian Benjamin. According to the board, the result of anyone found falsifying original scores as Mmsoma did, would not only be handed over to the police for prosecution, the board will also withdraw their original results.

“With this her ignoble act, Miss Mmesoma would be prosecuted and her original result withdrawn. This is not all as the board would, in due course, investigate all candidates laying claims to higher scores than they actually obtained. Once discovered, such candidates’ original results would be withdrawn forthwith and they would be handed over to relevant security agencies for prosecution.”   

Mmesoma allegedly altered her 2023 UTME score from 249 to 362 with the use of a yet-to-be-identified software. She was subsequently awarded a N3m scholarship by Chief (Dr.) Innocent Chukwuma, Chairman, CEO of Innoson Motors.

The board warned that there are still many Mmesoma out to deceive Nigerians. Iy therefore warn Nigerians, particularly those it described as being “…in a hurry to bestow honours without confirming from the board…” to desist from being so gullible.

Citing a similar case in Kaduna, JAMB explained that one Atung Gerald also falsified his UTME result with claims that he scored 380, only to be discovered during verification processes that he did not even obtain any form for the examination, let alone sit for same. The case was discovered when Gerald’s kinsmen demanded that he be given special recognition.

“The board would therefore want to advise the public to always cross check these claims by candidates with the Board before rushing to honour them with undeserving awards as certain software have been created to fake their version of their results and put same out in the public space for fun.”

JAMB noted however, that even as these dubious candidates succeed in manipulating their results, the board will counter them by forwarding original results to their schools of choice for appropriate action.

“...these candidates only succeeded in manipulating what they are holding as the authentic results are with the board and would be transmitted to their schools of choice at the appropriate time.”
