Ex EFCC Boss, Bawa Regains Freedom

Ex head of the Economic and Financial Crimes Commission, EFCC, Abdulrasheed Bawa, Wednesday night regained his freedom from the custody of the Department of State Services, DSS. 

Bawa, who was nabbed by the unit following his suspension from office by the Tinubu administration for alleged breach of office has not been officially charged of any offense. 

However, a statement signed by the Director of Information, office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF, Willie Bassey, said Bawa’s suspension is sequel to some weighty allegations bothering on abuse of office levelled against him.

"President Bola Ahmed Tinubu,GCFR, has approved the indefinite suspension from office of Mr. AbdulRasheed Bawa, CON, as the Chairman, Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) to allow for proper investigation into his conduct while in office. 

“This follows weighty allegations of abuse of office levelled against him," the statement read. 

Meanwhile, no explanation has yet been offered for his release.
