Be Careful Who You Give Your Original Documents To-FCT Police Commissioner Counsels Abuja Residents
CP Haruna addressing newsmen.

The Commissioner of police, the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, CP Garba G Haruna, has called on citizens and residents to avoid handing over the original documents of their cars to their drivers as they could easily be swindle of such cars.

The Commissioner gave the advise while briefing newsmen at its headquarters on Wednesday, on the command achievements in the last few weeks.

In one of such instances, CP Haruna disclosed, operatives of the command arrested one Haliru Shaibu, a driver to one Yusuf Ibrahim, who had earlier reported the car of a stolen Hyundai Accent.

Investigation, the CP said, revealed however, that Ibrahim actually sold the car, which has since been recovered, being in possession of its original documents.

"I want to advise members of the public that the original particulars of their vehicles must always be with them. If they hand over the original documents to their drivers, servants or wards, they will use the original particulars and sell off the vehicles..." CP Haruna counseled.

He also disclosed that the command is currently investigating the death of one Alhaji Tijani Yakubu, killed in Kabusa village by irate youths over allegation that he caused the disappearance of a male genital organ belonging to one Emmanuel Danladi.

According to him, the FCT command received a distress call that a mob was in the process of visiting instant judgement on the accused, following which police operatives from area division mobilized quickly to the scene and took into custody both the accuser and accused, alongside two others involved in the jungle justice.

Unfortunately, the accused died while receiving treatment at the hospital.

Subsequent examination conducted on the man who raised the alarm however, revealed that his penis is active and intact.

"On the 15th of October, 2023, following a distress call that one Alhaji Tijani Yakubu of Kabusa village was being lynched by irate youths on allegation of causing the disappearance of the male genital organ of one Emmanuel Danladi.

"Police operatives from Kabusa swooped into action and rescued the injured victim. Both the suspect and victim were taken to hospital for medical attention and examination but most unfortunately, Alhaji Tijani could not make it...

" However, the male genital organ of Emmanuel Danladi, who raised the false alarm that his penis has disappeared upon which mobs mobbed Tijani to death, his penis is active and intact..." the statement by CP Haruna read in part.

He therefore called on FCT residents to avoid the temptation of melting out instant justice over such false alarm as they are unfounded.

CP Haruna also called on religious and other interest groups to take it as a responsibility to counsel their members on the need to not take matters into their hands by resorting to jungle justice as anyone found culpable will face the full wrath of the law.

Other successes recorded by the command included the arrest of a tipper driver with a locally fabricated pistol with two live ammunitions, several armed Robbery and One Chance suspects, recovery of several stolen vehicles and among others, arrest of a homicide suspect.

While assuring all FCT residents that the command is commited to deploying all legal instruments within its reach to live up to its crime-fighting responsibility in Abuja, CP Haruna also reiterated his call on the people to join the process by always lending their support.

"I wish to treasure FCT residents that the command, under my leadership, will do all that is humanly possible to prevent crime and criminality. And when it dies occur, we will try as much as possible to detect it.

"To all law-abiding citizens of the FCT, I wish to solicit for your support and cooperation in the spirit of community policing," he pleaded.
