Titan Latest: Coast Guard Search Team Finds Debris Field

US Coast Guard says its underwater search vessel has located a debris field near the wreckage of the Titanic as its search for the tour submersible, Titan, which disappeared with five people onboard on Sunday shortly after dive, enters critical stage.

The discovery is a potential breakthrough as hope of finding survivors dwindles fast.

Coast Guard made the disclosure via twitters Thursday, without elaborating on the find.

The find is way past the critical 96-hour duration point for the sub’s breathable air to run out, a claim experts say is an imprecise approximation. They say the time could possibly be extended if passengers in the sub took conservation measures.

Cost Guard also confirmed that an undersea robot belonging to a Canadian ship and a deep diving robot with cameras, lights and arms, belonging to a French Research institute, are already at the sea floor to join other searchers in a joint effort that covers thousands of miles.
