Foreign, Local Trips: Tinubu Cuts Entourage by 60%

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has announced changes in the number of aides allowed on any foreign or local presidential trip.

Special Adviser on Media and Publicity, Ajuri Ngelale, who made the disclosure while briefing newsmen in Abuja on Tuesday, explained that the move is aimed at bringing sanity and prudence in the management of resources and cut cost of governance.

The President, Ngelale said, directed that all the entourage to state and International events be reduced by 60 per cent.

Explaining further, he said the President mandated that there will not be huge security entourage that would attract huge bills in form of duty travel allowance on local trips. He therefore instructed that security details for local trips will henceforth be drafted from the host state.

A breakdown indicates that unlike before when the President travelled with over 50 members of entourage, he is now scheduled to go on foreign trips with 20 aides while the Vice President is entitled to 5

For local trips, the President will now be travelling with 25 aides, Vice President 15, First Lady and Wife of the Vice President, 5 travelling aides each.

In particular, the presidential spokesperson pointed out that henceforth, there will be a maximum of four officials on ministers delegation while heads of the Ministries, Departments and Agencies, MDAs will travel with a maximum of two officials.

Ngelale warned that any official found flouting the new order will be sanctioned.

Meanwhile, a circular to the new directive has already been sent to all ministries, departments and agencies from the office of the Secretary to the Government of the Federation, SGF.
