Anambra state Police Command says there is no foul play in the death of a family of five which occurred on Monday, July 17, 2023, inside a bungalow in Oze village, Nkwelle Ezunaka, Oyi council area of the state.

The Command made the disclosure on Friday via a release made available by spokesman, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu.

The family, Ifeanyi Okoh, 32, from Akebugu, Enugu State; his wife Chiamaka Okoh, 28; their children, Chinecherem, 3, and Catherine, 2, as well as the mother of the wife, Anthonia Onwukube, 56, allegedly died the first night they moved into the property, raising suspicion among residents.

According to the command however, an autopsy on the deceased revealed that they died from carbon monoxide poisoning that emanated from the family's power generator fumes.

The Command further explained that the generator was kept in a confined space devoid of ventilation.

"A visit to the scene of the crime revealed a generator connected to the house electricity grid and kept in a confined space without proper ventilation," the command said.
