Deadly Texas Crash Driver Charged With Manslaughter
Also slammed with aggravated assault
George Alvarez, the Texas driver who drove into a crowd of Venezualans outside a migrant centre on Sunday has been slammed with eight manslaughter charges.
He was also charged with aggravated assault with a deadly weapon.
This was disclosed by Police Chief, Felix Sauceda, on Monday.
Alvarez, 34, is believed to have ran a red light before losing control and flipping the car on its side before ramming the crowd, killing six people on the spot with 12 critically injured.
Though reports of the toxicology text conducted on him is still being awaited, he has however, received a bond, totaling $3.6m.
Alvarez attempted to flee the scene after the crash but was overpowered and held down by those at the crash scene.
The victims, mostly Venezualans, were said to be waiting for a bus to return to downtown Brownsville after spending the night at the overnight immigrant shelter.
