Appeal Court Sacks Elumelu, Rules Okolie, LP Candidate Winner
Sets aside National/State Assembly Election Petition Tribunal ruling.
The Court of Appeal sitting in Abuja, has dismissed the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, candidate representing Oshimili Federal Constituency at the House of Representatives, Hon Ndudi Elumelu.
The court, which gave the judgement on Thursday, set aside earlier judgment of the National and State House of Assembly Election Tribunal in Asaba, Delta state and affirmed his Labour Party, LP, opponent, Ngozi Okolie, as the duly elected lawmaker.
Although initial reports of the election indicated that Elumelu polled 33,456 against Okolie's 53,879 in the February 25 election, the National Assembly Election Petition Tribunal declared Elumelu winner.
