Abia Police Confirm Beheading of LP Chieftain
*Said he was killed in a 'drinking joint'
Abia State Police command has confirmed the death of a Labour Party, LP, chieftain, Zachary Maduka.
The confirmation came in a statement made available to newsmen by command spokesperson, ASP Maureen Chioma Chinaka on Thursday.
According to the statement, Maduka, the campaign Director of the party in the 2023 elections in Uturu, Isuikwuato council area of the state, was violently attacked, shot and subsequently beheaded by yet to be identified assailants.
Unlike earlier reports which claimed he was killed in his Uturu country home, the statement noted however, that the 70 year-old party chieftain was attacked in a drinking joint where he was shot and subsequently beheaded Wednesday night.
"Mr. Nmaduka was violently attacked, shot, and beheaded by unidentified assailants while he was at a drinking joint in Amelechi Akpukpa Community," the statement read in part.
