Anambra Police Rescue Four Siblings, Including Two Teens, Within Hours Of Abduction

Within hours of receiving a distress call, operatives of the Abagana division, Anambra state Police command, successfully rescued four siblings abducted by suspected herdsmen at Achalla village, Enugwu Agidi, Njikoka council area of Anambra state. 

The development is contained in a statement issued by the command on Saturday and made available to newsmen by spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu. 

According to the statement, the family was watching a television programme at about 10 pm when there was a sudden power cut following which her husband went out to find out what was amiss", his wife also accompanied him.

While at it, they noticed three gunmen who they suspected to be herdsmen, loitering close by and subsequently fled for dear life. 

However, upon returning home, they found out that their four children already asleep at the time they fled, had been taken away by the gunmen. 

"Immediately the Commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye received the report, he ordered immediate mobilisation of Police personnel and vigilante to go after the kidnappers with a view to rescuing the children.

"in the early hours of today Saturday, 16th December, 2023 the four children aged 13, 14, 21 and 21 years were rescued close to Urum, 25 kilometres away from their home in Achala village, Enugwu-Agidi," the statement read in part. 

Meanwhile, the siblings have since been reunited with their parents while a dragnet has been spread across neighbouring communities for the fleeing abductors.
