Anambra Police Recover 2 AK-47 Assault Rifles, Intensify Search for Hoodlums

Operatives of the Anambra State Police Command have recovered two AK-47 Rifles stolen from two Police formations a few years ago.

The operatives have also intensified the search for those responsible for stealing them from the respective formations.

The development is contained in a release made available to newsmen by command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu on Tuesday.

According to the release, one of the rifles was stolen from the Zone 13 Headquarters, Ukpo when it was attacked by unknown gunmen sometime in 2021.

The second was taken from Area Command Headquarters, Ogidi early last year when the formation was also attacked by insurgents.

The recovery, the release added, was due to painstaking intelligence efforts by undercover operatives which led to an Nnobi, Idemili South council area location, where the arms were hidden.

While commending the operatives for their diligence, state commissioner of Police, CP Aderemi Adeoye, urged them not to relent until perpetrators of the attacks, which also claimed Police lives, are brought to Justice.
