Anambra Police Neutralize Two Robbers

Operatives of the Anambra state Police Command on Sunday neutralized two members of a four-man armed robbery gang, operating around Umusioma Nkpor, Idemili council area of the state.

In a release made available to newsmen, command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the command explained that the gang was intercepted by its team while on a routine patrol in the area.

According to the statement, the robbers, who were operating on a black Lexus SUV, opened fire on sighting the operatives, who responded, leading to the death of two while the other two escaped.

The statement added that efforts are already in place to arrest the fleeing robbers.

Items recovered from them include two locally made explosives, one AK47 assault rifle, nine live 7.62 ammunition and four AK47 magazines.  

Similarly, another robbery gang was intercepted at Azu Ogbunike, Oyi council area of the state, on the same. They were picked up while vandalizing a truck suspected to have been stolen. The suspects include 51 yea-old Nwusulor Fidelis, Iloegunam Amobi, 44, Solomon Akpagu, 51, and Chidiebere Innocent, 28.

The quartet allgedly confessed to the crime and are currently helping the police with information on other syndicate members that dispossess innocent drivers of their trucks before bringing them to their criminal hideout at Azu Ogbunike.
