The Ebonyi State Police Command, Abakiliki, Police Public Relations Officer, Onome Onovwkpoyeya, said in a statemnet on Tuesday, that the Ebonyi State Commissioner of Police, CP Faleye S.Olaleye, said there attention was drawn to a viral video of suspected IPOB/ESN members, trying to enforce the illegal sit-at-home order in Isheke and other markets in the state,on 04/07/2023 at about 11:30hrs.
According to him,the hoodlums went to Ahiaofu road, along Enugu - Abakaliki highway, Ishieke, and Akaeze markets and started shooting sporadically but were engaged in a shootout by the police tactical and patrol teams leading to them escaping the scene.
"No life was lost either on the part of the police or the civil populace. Intensive manhunt is ongoing to apprehend and bring them to justice.
"Consequently, the Commissioner Of Police is using this medium to appeal to the members of the public to remain calm, oblige the police with useful information and go about their lawful activities, as maximum security measures have been emplaced, including intensive motorized patrol of the nooks and crannies of the State to halt their activities." The statement said.
