Thierry Henry Takes Over As French U-21 Manager

Arsenal legeng, Thierry Henry, has taken over as the new manager of French Under-21 National football team, Les Bleuets. The development is contained in a statement released by the French Football Federation, FFF. 

According to the statement, the former French international signed a two year contract to manage the national team through both the 2024 Olympic which will be hosted by France and the qualifying series of the 2025 U21 Euros. 

"Thierry Henry has been appointed as the new France U21 manager, up until 2025.

"The former French international will lead Les Bleuets through the upcoming qualifying campaign for the 2025 U21 Euros, as well as Olympic Games in Paris in 2024," the statement read in part. 

His first competitive role as manager of the team is expected to commence September 11, in an away Euro qualifying match against Slovenia 

Subsequent Group H matches will run till October 2025 

The appointment is his first since leaving Montreal Impact about two years ago. He was with the Belgium senior national team as Assistant to Roberto Martinez in last year's football World Cup 

Henry is replacing former manager, Sylvain Ripoli since, who has been in charge since 2017.

Ripoli was relieved of the position in the wake of an early elimination from this summer's Euros following a humiliating defeat to Ukraine in the quarter finals
