INEC Releases Updates On Bayelsa, Imo and Kogi Governorship Elections

The Independent National Electoral Commission, INEC, has released an update on its preparations for the off-cycle, Saturday, November 11, 2023, governorship elections in Beyelsa, Imo and Kogi states.

The update is contained in a statement on the Commission's X handle, signed by its National Commissioner & Chairman, Information and Voter Education Committee, Sam Olumekun. 

The statement contains comprehensive information on the number of collected and uncollected Permanent Voters Card, PVC, in the affected states, listed on a polling unit basis.

The statement also provides insights into the distribution of polling units by council areas, registration areas/wards, names of polling units, their code numbers and among others, number of registered voters.

"As was done in recent elections, including the 2023 General Election, the Commission is publishing the comprehensive information of collected and uncollected Permanent Voters' Cards (PVCs) in the three States on polling unit basis. The information also gives the distribution of the polling units by Local Government Areas, Registration Areas/Wards, the names of the polling units, their code numbers, number of registered voters and the number of collected as well as uncollected PVCs," the commission’s statement read in part. 

The commission equally listed the names and locations of the polling units without registered voters, including two in Bayelsa state and 38 in Imo.

Further breakdown of PVC distribution in the three states indicates that out of 1,056,862 registered voters in Bayelsa state, 1,017,613 collected their PVCs while 39, 249 remained  uncollected. 

In Imo states, 2,419,922 voters were registered, out of which 2,318,419 of them collected their PVCs, leaving 101,003 uncollected. 

Kogi State has 1,932,654 registered voters out of which 1,833,160 have collected their PVCs, leaving 99,494 uncollected
