Imo Guber Polls: A Labour Party governorship Aspirant, Globe Motors Owner, Anumudu Dies 

A Labour Party governorship aspirant in Imo State, and the owner of Globe Motors, Humphrey Anumudu is dead. He is a native of Obazu Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. Anumudu is from Owerri zone.

Imo Guber Polls: A Labour Party governorship Aspirant, Globe Motors Owner, Anumudu Dies 
A Labour Party governorship aspirant in the November governorship election, in Imo State, and the owner of Globe Motors, Humphrey Anumudu is dead. He is a native of Obazu Mbieri in the Mbaitoli Local Government Area of Imo State. Anumudu is from Owerri zone. 
The aspirant died in Lagos, after he returned from a meeting at the LP National Headquarters in Abuja, on Friday. It was gathered that the multi billionaire businessman cum politician, died after he collapsed in his house on return from the meeting.
Anumudu is a frontrunner in the Labour Party primary for the November gubernatorial election this year. He had contested severally under the Peoples Democratic Party during the resumption of democratic rule in 1998.
The Late Anumudu duing the PDP primaries in 1998 was disqualified along with the former governor of Imo State, Rochas Okorocha, in the build up to the governorship election in 1999, which brought Achike Udenwa to power.
 About four party delegates were killed during a clash between Okorocha supporters and Anumudu supporters, which resulted into disqualification of Okorocha and Anumudu.
 The leadership of the Peoples Democratic Party cancelled the primary ceded the ticket Achike Udenwa who went on to rule the state between 1999 and 2007.
Anumudu was said to be leading in the primaries when fight broke out between the two leading politicians. Usdenwa came distance third in the primaries but was given the ticket.
His strong political structure, known as "Soro Onye ma Uzo" has been on ground in Imo State fighting for Owerri zone to produce governor since 1999.
In 2019, he joined the Zenith Labour Party  and won the ticket for the governorship candidate of the party in the state
A friend of the late politician said: ” he went to a meeting in Abuja on Friday. He forgot a document and quickly rushed to Lagos to pick it. He was bid to return to Abuja on Saturday. On getting to his house, he lost consciousness. He was rushed to a hospital in Lagos. An oxygen was implanted in him. He was not responding. A doctor came and confirmed him dead.”

Anumudu had sprepared for the November governorship election and had mobilised his supporters acrossed the 27 local government areas in the state with branded 27 vehicles to LP Chairmen in the 27 LGAs of the state.
