Ebonyi IPOB Camp/Shrine Destroyed In Joint Police, Army, DSS Raid
*One member neutralized, two arrested, others escaped.
A camp, which doubles as a shrine, said to belong to the proscribed Independent Peoples of Biafra, IPOB, has been destroyed in a joint raid carried out by operatives of the police, Nigerian Army and Directorate of State Services, DSS, Eke-Agbebor Isu, Onicha council area of Ebonyi state.
The development is contained in a statement issued and released Thursday in Abakaliki by the state police command spokesperson, SP Onome Onovwakpoyeya.
“On Sept. 13, acting on credible and actionable intelligence, tactical team operatives of the Command in a joint operation with the military and the DSS stormed an IPOB/ESN camp at Eke-agbebor Isu in Onicha LGA of Ebonyi state," it read in part.
The statement added that two members of the proscribed group were arrested, while one was shot and fatally wounded. The rest managed to escape.
“Two others were, however, arrested. These are Emmanuel Chinedu ‘m’, aka Patho, aged 26, and Paul Ani ‘m’, aka Osah, 38."
