Operatives of the Ogidi police station, Idemili North council area of Anambra state, on Wednesday, August 30, arrested four members of a burglary gang.

The gang is said to specialize in robbing lock-up shops across the state.

The arrest was effected following the receipt of credible information, following which the operatives raided the gang's hideout in Ogidi.

According to a statement released to newsmen by the state police Command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, the four suspects, all from Ebonyi state, confessed their involvement.

In particular, they confessed to breaking-into and looting of a store at Nanka, Orumba North council, from where they stole the recovered items.

Items recovered from them include two ladies motor cycles, two big generators, one wheelbarrow, one deep freezer, three bags of rice and two large iron cutters.

Meanwhile, operatives of the command also announced the rescue of a kidnap victim and the arrest of two of their abductors.

The incident took place at about 9:30pm also on Wednesday, at the Borromeo Roundabout, Onitsha North council area of the state.

The operatives recovered a cache of arms, including one Barreta pistol and nine rounds of 9MM live ammunition.

They also recovered a shuttle bus without number plates which the criminals used for the kidnap operation.

Though the operatives were involved in a shootout with the kidnappers, the hostage was however, rescued unhurt.
