Anambra Police Rescue Three Pillar-Bound Abducted Victims

Police operatives in Anambra state on Friday rescued three abducted victims who were bound to a pillar at Umuohi village, okija in Ihiala council area of the state.

This development is contained in a release made available to newsmen on Sunday by the command image maker, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu. 

According to the statement, the operatives who acted on credible information, raided a house in the village belonging to one Onyeka Aduba, also known as Yotoritor, where they found the victims tied to pillars by alleged insurgents. 

Following subsequent interrogations, Yotoritor, described as a notorious gang leader, reportedly confessed to the crime and was taken into custody. 

The discovery also led to the arrest of two other suspects, Okika Chukwujekwu, 31 and Sylvester Okorie Ikwuanusi, 55. However, other members of the gang are said to be on the run. 

Yotoritor was arrested following a positive identification by one of his victims who sustained gun shot injuries. 

In a related development, operatives of the command recovered a trailer load of cement allegedly stolen from Delta state. 

The trailer, a Chinese made HOWO, with registration number Delta AKU 257 XB, conveying 1,000 bags of BUA cement, was recovered in Okija on Saturday, July 15.

It was reportedly hijacked the previous day at Obiliokite, Delta state before being driven to Okija. However the hijackers abandoned the truck at Okija, off the Onitsha-Owerri expressway and fled the scene, on sighting the police patrol team

Meanwhile, the state police commissioner, CP Aderemi Adeoye, has called on the people to keeping availing the command with useful information to help rid the state of criminal elements. He also urged them to disregard ongoing propaganda mounted by outlawed groups.
