The newly sworn-in Minister of the Federal Capital Territory, FCT, and former governor of Rivers State, Nyesom Ezenwo Wike, on Monday, warned strictly to restore the Master Plan of Abuja by demolishing houses distorting the Abuja Master Plan and landgrabbers in Abuja.
Wike gave the warning after he was sworn in as the new minister of the FCT, along the other 45 ministers by President Bola Ahmed Tinubu.
Speaking to the State House Correspondents at the State House Banquet, Wike promised to hit the ground running with demolition of houses that are illegally constructed.
"I am not a sitting office minister. If you work with us, you will enjoy this administration. If you don't want to work with us you will not enjoy this administration.
"You will see a different Abuja now." Wike assured.
According to him, those who had been given Certificates of Occupancy but failed to develop, would also lose their lands to give way to those ready to build.
"If you know you have built where you are not supposed to build, it will go down”,
“People Who Have Built Houses On Green Areas In Abuja, It Will Go Down”
“People Who Are Distorting The Master Plan Of Abuja, It Will Go Down”
“I Will Restore Abuja Master Plan” He warned.
The event was attended by Vice-President Kashim Shettima, Senate President Godswill Akpabio, and Speaker of the House Representatives, Tajudeen Abass.
Also at the ceremony was Secretary to the Government of the Federation, George Akume and Chairman of the Nigeria Governors Forum and Kwara Governor, Abdulaziz Abdulrahman.
Recall that Wike worked against the interest of his party in the 2023 presidential election in favour of the ruling All Progressives Congress, APC, and was compensated with ministerial appointment.
