A year after she was released from kidnappers den, Cynthia Nkiru Okereke, a veteran Nollywood actress is dead.
She died at the age of 57
She died on Tuesday night according to her friend and colleague, Joseph Okechukwu, who announced the death of the actress on Tuesday night.
According to the filmmaker, he was about to pay for Cynthia Okereke’s flight ticket to USA, but sadly, she died on Tuesday night.
“REST IN PEACE, Nwanyi oma. I’m shattered beyond words. The fact that I was about to pay for your flight ticket to come finish what we started only to here you went to be with Lord just last night is one of the toughest things I’ve ever had to deal with in recent times. I pray I’m able to recover from this shock. Life is really just a mist. One minute you have it, the next you don’t.
"For the more than 20 years that I’ve known you, you’ve been such an amazing, decent and lovely soul to be around. I never imagined you’d exit so unceremoniously. Words fail me.
"Sleep on, Cynthia. May your gentle soul rest on till we meet again in glory,” he wrote.
Recall that the late actress and Clemson Cornel were kidnapped while returning from a movie set at Ozalla town in Enugu state on Friday, July 29, 2022.
The Actors Guild of Nigeria’s Director of Communications, Actor Monalisa Chinda, announced the kidnapping of the stars in 2022.
According to her, the actors were reportedly missing after their family members confirmed that they didn’t return from the scene of shooting
However, they were later released after a few days with the men of underworld.
Cynthia Nkiru Okereke is a famous Nollywood actress, television personality, entrepreneur and a philanthropist. She was born on 20th April 1960 in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria.
She is currently 57 years old. She is gifted, creative, skillful and talented in acting and interpretation of movie roles and can fit in any character given to her by movie directors and producers.
Cynthia Okereke completed both her primary and secondary school education in Enugu State in the south eastern part of Nigeria and obtained both her First School Leaving Certificate and West African Senior School Certificate. After completing her education, Cynthia Okereke worked in several organization before settling for acting.
In 1998, Cynthia Okereke joined the Nigerian movie industry (Nollywood) and acted in her first Nollywood movie “King Jaja of Opobo” a movie that gave her an advantage in Nollywood and attracted her to movie directors and producers in Nigeria.
