Zelensky Arrives London, Meets Sunak

Ukrainian President, Volodymyr Zelenskiy, has arrived London for talks with British Prime Minister, Rishi Sunak.

The meeting, billed for Monday, is part of his tour of a number of key European allies leading up to the much expected major counter-offensive against Russian forces.

Reuters reports the Prime Minister's office as saying that the British leader will, with the meeting, confirm the provision of hundreds of air defence missiles and additional unmanned aerial systems, UAS, including hundreds of new long-range attack drones, with a range of over 200 kilometres.

Britain is the first country to start supplying Ukraine with long-range cruise missiles required to aid Ukraine in hitting Russian troops and supply dumps deep behind the front lines.

Zelensky made allusions to the development in his twit. 

"Today–London. The UK is a leader when it comes to expanding our capabilities on the ground and in the air. This cooperation will continue today," Zelenskiy tweeted.

"I will meet my friend Rishi. We will conduct substantive negotiations face-to-face and in delegations," he added. 

Meanwhile, Sunak is also looking forward to the meeting. 

"This is a crucial moment in Ukraine's resistance to a terrible war. 

"They need the sustained support of the international community to defend against the barrage of unrelenting and indiscriminate attacks that have been their daily reality for over a year," he said in a statement. 

Zelenskiy has also made cameo visits to Rome, Berlin, Rome and Paris over the weekend as part of his meet-with-European-leaders tour, during which he will drum up more military and financial support for his beleaguered country.

He is also billed to deliver a video link speech to the Copenhagen Democracy Summit on Monday.
