The Rivers State Police Command on Friday, morning arrested a member of the House of Representatives, Hon. Chinyere Igwe, for allegedly being in possession of $500,000.
Igwe is representing Port Harcourt 2 Federal Constituency in the Green Chamber.
He is a member of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), and alleged supporter of the presidential candidate of the PDP, Alhaji Atiku Abubakar.
He was arrested along Aba Road in Port Harcourt, the State capital.
The police also intercepted a list containing the beneficiaries of the money, for distribution in the 23 local government areas of the State as well as security agencies and the officials of the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC).
The Rivers State Police Command, Spokesperson, Grace Iringe-Koko, confirmed the arrest adding that “A statement on it would be released soon.
