Our Focus is on Empowerment for Our MEMBERS-JCI Aso President

We Intend to Empower our Members the More-says JCI Aso President

Junior Chamber International, JCI, Aso, has said that the development of its members is one of its cardinal priorities for the ongoing year.

President of the organization, JC Yetunde Adebisi, made the disclosure while briefing newsmen at the chapter’s January General Assembly, in Abuja on Sunday.

JC Adebisi, who spoke on the Theme, Members, Partnership and Sustainability, pointed out that whereas the national arm of JCI did so much in the area of youth empowerment over the years, JCI Aso decided to up the ante this year by placing emphasis on the empowerment of its growing members. This, she said, is with a view to making them more functional in an ever evolving world.

While also making references to the sterling and remarkable achievements of the organization over the years, including Educate A Child’, Save A Soul and its other mentor-ship programmes, JC Adebisi who made references explained that part of the reason the chapter is raising its partnership drive is to create more positive changes in the life of young people in the society.

“Everything we want to do this year is to actually focus on our members. In the last three years, our national organization, the national body of JC International has actually been trying its best to meet up on our members’ empowerment. But this year, our focus basically, is on our own. We realized that it is actually better to focus on our own, that is empowerment for our members. So our focus basically, is empowerment for our members.”

JC Adebisi further explained that the decision arose more out of a membership survey JCI Aso conducted at the beginning of the year from which it realized that it was not enough for the leadership to decide on what has to be done. The onus, she explained, was for the members to decide what form of empowerment they want.

“One of the things we did at the beginning of the year was to send out a membership survey for our members to tell us what they want…It gladdens my heart that I saw quite a number of our members that actually participated in the survey to tell us what they want. Our aim is for them to tell us what they wanted because it is not possible to say this is what I wanted for our members without us telling us this is what we want,” she noted.

According to her, JCI Aso has multiple platforms that offer training options through which members can facilitate their up-skill. The process, she noted, was teed off by the national organization in the previous year.

In attendance are other notable JCI leaders, including the immediate past National President, JC Abdulahi Attahiru, and immediate past President, JCI Aso, JC Olubunmi Ajayi.

Others are the 2022 President, JCI Aso, now the 2024 Vice President JCI Nigeria, JC Abayomi Oladipupo Lateef; Executive Vice President, 2024, JCI Aso, JC Felix Akinyemi, and Chairman, Senate Association, JCI Senator Rotimi Adewole, who spoke on the need for JCI Aso to blow the trumpet on the remarkable progress it has made in youth empowerment.

Going forward, he opined that the organization needs to change the old narrative of being silent on its achievements by opening up on the enviable youth empowerment mark it recorded over the years and will keep recording in the years ahead. According to him, JCI Aso can do this by engaging the media in a more robust partnership
