Dangote Refinery Concludes Crude Import from the US

The Dangote Refinery, which recently began production of petroleum products, has concluded plans to import crude oil from the United States of America.

Vanguard newspapers reports Monday that the conglomerate will receive its first import of 2,000,000 barrels of WTI Midland crude from the Trafigura Group by the end of February 2024.

Quoting Bloomberg, the newspaper reports that the development marks the first time the refinery will be sourcing non-Nigerian crude, an action that is expected to impact greatly on the country’s down stream sector.

Although the refinery primarily sources domestic crude through the trading arm of the NNPCL, it has also received shipments of Agbami crude, Amenam, Bonny Light, and CJ Blend streams through a trading unit of Shell.

More details later.
