Mayhem In Otukpo As Dare Devil Robbers Raid Several Banks, Kill 8

A group of dare devil armed robbers on Friday raided several commercial banks in Otukpo, Benue state where they raided the town's police before going ahead to attack the banks with explosives.
The banks include First Bank, United Bank for Africa, Zenith Bank, Access and Stanbic IBTC Bank.
Reports say the robbers, who invaded the police station where they killed the four officers, including the Divisional Police Officer, DPO, Chief Superintendent of Police, CSP John Adikwu and three other officers before heading to the banks where, among others, they also a former councillor who was transacting business inside one of the bank.
FreshNews learnt that the gang drove into the town around 3:30 pm and operated for over one hour with sophisticated weapons before making their getaway with an unspecified amount of money.
Meanwhile, luck ran out on the robbers as they were intercepted by operatives of a joint security team along the Otukpo Taraku road.
Following a fierce exchange of gun fire, the security team neutralized two of the robbers and arrested four others.
In a statement Saturday night, Benue state police command spokesperson, Catherine Anene, confirmed the incident, noting that two of the robbers were killed
