LASTMA/Driver Rage: Pregnant Woman, Her Two Children Killed As Vehicle Crushes Tricycle

Disaster struck in the Ago Palace Area, Isolo, Lagos, early Tuesday as a pregnant woman with her two children were killed after a vehicle being chased by operatives of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority, LASTMA, slammed into a tricycle conveying the victims.

Reports also have it that the tricycle operator and a policeman attached to the traffic control team, equally lost their lives in the accident.

According to eyewitnesses, the accident occurred when one of the LASTMA officials at Okota Roundabout attempted to forcefully take over control of the Toyota Sienna vehicle which was in motion, following an alleged traffic violation by the driver.

However, the driver was said to have resisted the take-over bid, following which he lost control and crashed into the tricycle coming from the opposite direction.

The pregnant woman, who was said to be taking her children and her two children to school, reportedly died on the spot.

Meanwhile, the accident resulted in a protest, during which an irate mob descended on the offending LASTMA official.

The erring officer was however, rescued by the policemen who had to fire tear gas cannisters to disperse the crowd and save him from instant mob justice.
