Kano Acting Chief Judge, Governor, Deputy Governor, Others Escape Death As Gov’s Swearing-In Podium Collapses Trapping Scores
Several persons including the newly elected Kano State Governor, Abba Kabir Yusuf, his Deputy Governor, and Chief Judge of the state allegedly escaped death in a near-tragic event which occurred in Kano, May 29, during the inauguration of the governor, when the podium collapsed.

The accident whaich occured at the Sani Abacha Stadium in Kofa Mata, and was attended by a large crowd, was attributed to the collapse of the podium during the swearing-in ceremony of the new Kano leaving many trapped, including the governor, his deputy and the acting Chief Judge.
It was reported that the new governor, his deputy, and the acting Chief Judge were all on the podium when it caved in, but all were safe, but sustained minor bruises.
However, it was gathered that the cause of the collapse of the podium was due to over the overcrowding of the stage by excited VIP guests who came out enmass to witness the events first hand.
Abba was declared the winner of the 2023 governorship election in Kano State in March 2023, after defeating his arc-rival, Yusuf Gawuna of the All Progressives Congress (APC).
He is an ally of the New Nigeria Peoples Party (NNPP) presidential candidate, Rabiu Musa Kwankwaso, and has been with him for 37 years, serving in different capacities.
After Abba’s eventual swearing, he vowed he would probe his predecessor, Abdullahi Ganduje who left behind over N240 billion in debt.
