Francis Nwifuru, of the All Progressive Congress, APC', candidate for the March11, governorship polls has emerged as the winner of Saturday’s governorship election in the state.
The Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC), on Monday in Abakaliki, capital of Ebonyi State, announced the APC’s governorship candidate as the winner and governor- elect of the state.
Charles Igwe, the INEC’s State Collation Officer, made the announcement, declaring Mr Nwifuru the winner, having satisfied the electoral act.
He said the governor-elect won in 10 out of the 13 local government areas of the state, while the APGA candidate won in two LGAs and the PDP candidate one.
According to Igwe, Mr Nwifuru polled 199,131 votes to win the election.
He said Bernard Odoh of APGA polled 52,189 to emerge second, while Ifeanyi Odii of the PDP polled 80,191 votes.
According to him, the total number of accredited votes was 350,345 out of the 1,597,646, registered votes in the state.
He explained that the total votes cast was 349,941, with valid votes 342,554, while the rejected ballots stood at 7,387.
