Hospital Seizes Corpse Of Ex-Olympic Boxer, Jerry Okorodudu Over Unpaid N600, 000 Bill

A hospital in Ikorodu area of Lagos, has allegedly refused to release the corpse of Nigeria’s most powerful boxer and ex-Olympian, Jeremiah Okorodudu, who died in the hospital on Wednesday.

A hospital in Ikorodu area of Lagos, has allegedly refused to release the corpse of Nigeria’s most powerful boxer and ex-Olympian, Jeremiah Okorodudu, who died in the hospital on Wednesday.
Okorodudu reportedly passed on Wednesday, 28 June, 2023, while awaiting amputation surgery at the Ikorodu, Lagos based hospital.
According to reports, the hospital management refused to release his corpse until an outstanding N600,000 debt is cleared.
It was gathered that Okorodudu was initially booked to undergo the amputation surgery on Saturday, 24 June, 2023 but the surgery could not be carried out because of lack of funds.
It was learned that the surgery was, however, rebooked for Wednesday, 28 June, 2023, but even then the money needed could not be completed and in the process, Jerry passed on.
According to reports, Jerry Okorodudu had been bedridden for months at Dan’s Hospital, 46, Thomas Laniyan Street, Irawo bus stop, Ikorodu for months before his eventual demise on Wednesday, 28 June, 2023.
Recall that during his boxing days, he was one of Nigeria’s most successful boxer during then he won a bronze medal at Commonwealth Games in Brisbane in 1982.
In the 1984 Los Angeles Olympics Games where Peter Konyegwachie won a Silver medal, Okorodudu lost in a controversial circumstances at the quarter final stage.
He went into professional boxing during then he fought Joe Lasisi in the early 1990s.
