Fleeing Terrorists Invade Birnin Gwari, Abduct Several Persons

Terrorists said to be fleeing Zamfara state on Thursday night invaded Gobirawa community in Birnin Gwari, Kaduna state, and abducted an unknown number of persons

The incident took place near the NTA Birnin-Gwari, reported to be less than 500 metres from an Air Force field base.

Following the incident, Birnin Gwari council area chairman, Abdullahi Ibrahim Muhammad Amir, issued a statement, warning residents to limit their movements within the entire Birnin-Gwari Emirates.

The warning came on the heels of a meeting with the Emirate Council and security agencies. 

According to him, all forms of movement, whether on foot, bike, or vehicle, are prohibited in the emirate, beginning 8:30 p.m.

While speaking with newsmen on Friday, former Managing Director of the Kaduna State Media Corporation, who doubles as the Danmasanin Birnin-Gwari, Alhaji Zubair Abdurra’uf, reiterated that he warned of terrorists heading to the area early May but no one took him seriously. 

“when I said early this month that terrorists were closing in, on Birnin-Gwari, many people did not believe me.”

He noted however, that he was dismay at the audacity with which the terrorists entered the main town and carry out their evil acts.

According to him, the reality of the matte is that government has failed to address the insecurity situation in the area. 

Abdurra’uf, who revealed that terrorists have taken over most of the farmlands in the central parts of town, making it impossible for the people to go to their farms, suggested that a security summit be held to address the challenge.
