Anambra Police Smash Death Threat Gang

The Anambra police command has smashed two death threat syndicates specialized in extorting money from unsuspecting members of the public particularly in and around Umunze, Orumba South council area and Ozubulu, Ekwusigo council area. 

A statement by the command, distributed to newsmen by its spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu, said the command achieved the feat through separate efforts by operatives from the divisions in the two towns. 

According to the release, two suspects were nabbed in Umunze after painstaking investigation. They are alleged to have sent text messages to a victim, identifying themselves as members of ESN and demanding that he paid them an undisclosed large sum or risked being kidnapped and killed along with his daughter.

The suspects are said to be cooling their feet in detention, awaiting arraignment and prosecution in court.

Similarly, the Ozubulu division Police, Ekwusigo council area of the state, arrested one male suspect, who used two different lines to issue death threats to a businessman.

He claimed to be a commander of the ESN Commander, ordering his victim to pay up or be killed.

He was nabbed through a meticulous investigation process which employed technology and human assets that led detectives to his hideout where he was arrested.

Recovered from him are the two sims from which he sent the death threat message. He is also in custody and billed for appearance in court soon
