Anambra Police Nabs Lone Gunman At Awka Hotel, Recover Arm And Ammunitions
*Dislodges Dangote truck highjacking syndicate
Operatives of the Anambra Police Command on Friday, arrested a lone gunman at an unnamed hotel in Awka, the state capital.
The information is contained in a release made available to newsmen by command spokesperson, DSP Ikenga Tochukwu.
The gunman, the statement explained, was prowling around the hotel premises, thus attracting the curiosity of the operatives who were on surveillance.
Following subsequent interrogation and search, one English-made pistol and three rounds of live ammunition were recovered from the suspect, who identified himself as Akuchieani Echezona, a resident of Ifite Awka, Awka South council area.
He is currently in the custody of the command.
Meanwhile, the command also uncovered an armed syndicate which specializes in high jacking Dangote trucks plying the state's highways.
The Command explained that the Nnokwa, Idemili South council area hideout of the gang was busted by police operatives acting on a tip off.
The operatives arrested three suspects found vandalizing one of the vehicles
