Niger Republic Coup Plotters Agree To Meet Former Emir Of Kano, Lamido Sanusi, Turn Down US, AU, ECOWAS
After snubbing the United State of America diplomats, representatives of the African Union (AU), and the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), the leader of the coup in Niger meets with the former Emir of Kano, and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi, on Wednesday.
After snubbing the United State of America diplomats, representatives of the African Union (AU), and the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS), the lleader of the coup in Niger meets with the former Emir of Kano, and former governor of the Central Bank of Nigeria, Alhaji Muhammadu Lamido Sanusi, on Wednesday.
Sanusi met with the coup leaders in Niger Republic, on Wednesday, after which the footage of Sanusi, whose, Tijjaniya sect has it's large base in Niger, went viral on social media.
Sanusi is the Khalifa of the Tijjaniya sect in West Africa and may have used his Tijjaniya Sect to meet the coup plotters in the neighbouring country.
Sanusi met the military leadership after the junta aborted a meeting with representatives of the African Union (AU), the Economic Community of West Africa States (ECOWAS) and a top US diplomats.
Nigerien coup plotters had turned down a meeting request by ECOWAS and the US delegation based on ECOWAS sanction ordering member states to shut their border with Niger on Monday.
