Troops Neutralize 10 Armed Bandits In Zamfara
Arrest 2, rescue 9 kidnapped victims, recover arms, ammunitions, N2. 4m cash.
Troops of Sector 1, Operation Hadarin Daji on Tuesday, neutralized 10 armed bandits around Gadazaima village, Bukuyum council area of Zamfara state.
The development is contained in a press statement.
According to the statement, the troops of Forward Operating Base, Danmark, acting on intelligence report of the bandits' movement with kidnapped victims from Sokoto state, mobilized for an offensive ambush.
They were said to have made contact with the bandits in Gada-Zaima, during which both sides got engaged in a fierce fight.
In the aftermath of the fight which lasted for over 2 hours, the troops neutralized 10 of the bandits while the others fled from the scene.
Two were however, caught alive.
The troops recovered 6 AK47 rifles, 1 PKT Machine Gun, 5 Magazines, 20 rounds of 7.62mm special ammunitions, 3 mobile phones, 2 solar panels, 1 sewing machines and the sum N2, 410,000 cash from the bandits.
The troops rescued 9 kidnapped victims, all from Sokoto state. However, a female victim was killed during the fire exchange.
The rest have been handed over to the appropriate authority to be reunited them with their families.
