President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has sacked the Central Bank of Nigeria, CBN, Governor, Mr Godwin Emefiele, from office.

The sack was with immidiate effect.
The Secretary to the Government of the Federation in a statement released by the Director, Information, Willie Bassey, on Friday said sack was sequel to the ongoing investigation of his office and the planned reforms in the financial sector of the economy.
"Mr Emefiele has been directed to immediately hand over the affairs of his office to the Deputy Governor (Operations Directorate), who will act as the Central Bank Governor pending the conclusion of investigation and the reforms." The statement said.

Meanwhile, there are indications that the Economic and Finacial Crimes Commission EFCC and the Department of Security Service, DSS, are likely going to quiz the former CBN governor over alleged discripancies in the new naira designed policy.
Recall that President Tinubu had in the wake of the naira scarcity impass alleged that the policy was agaist
his presidential ambition.
During the naira scarcity initiated by Emefiele, DSS was akleged to have invaded his home to effect his arrest but was stopped by the court and the presidency.
